'You don’t have to use your energy provider’s boiler cover!'
Just because you get your gas or electricity from one supplier doesn't mean you need
its insurance too. If they cleverly try and link the two, watch out: it's usually
nonsense. This is an open market and you want to get your hands on the best policy
at the cheapest price.
What your covered for: You will be covered for the maintenance and repair of your gas central heating system which includes... An initial service to ensure your system is safe and in good working order An annual service in each subsequent year of your agreement Parts and labour Unlimited call outs to keep your system working Agreed appointment times for call outs 24/7 helpline What your not covered for: With all insurance policies there are exclusions, the below is a summary relating to your cover... Your system is not covered until it has passed the initial service Adjustments to time and temperature controls Any domestic water supply from the hot water cylinder or the gas appliance up to and including the taps. The cold water supply tank, its feed and outlets. Initial Service Before we can provide cover, a full safety inspection is conducted of your system to make sure that it is safe and in good working order. Where problems are identified, we will inform you what is required and the cost of bringing the system up to an acceptable standard. Alternatively you can refer payments and obtain a 2nd opinion if you so wish. (A payment of £40 is made to the engineer upon his initial attendance which covers the cost of the service and gas safety check - this payment is deducted from your annual maintenance fee if you decide to take up cover) Even if you decline our cover you save £25 on our standard service charges. Effectively by taking away the cost of your Boiler service you are getting 12 months peace of mind for as little as £120 or £10 a month. We strongly advise that where you have gas appliances fitted you install a carbon monoxide alarm for your own safety. Carbon monoxide kills!!!!
